Steel slitting production share

Slitting, refers to steel coil through uncoiling, slitting, leveling, recoiling, processing into required width of the product. Conventional width is hard to meet all processing needs, which is why some customers might need customized slitting service.

Shunge Steel has two processing centers with rich experience in slitting. Slitting line can efficiently handle up to 28 rolls at a time, production plan is arranged according to customer's order.

There remains some problems such as "burrs" and "unevenness" during slitting processing.

Generally speaking, there is a gap between the upper and lower rotary knives; due to the different distance of the gap, the burrs are also different. To obtain smaller slitting burrs, the gap between the two knives should be as small as possible. 

The radial runout and end runout of the blade should be strictly controlled within an acceptable range, otherwise the end  runout is out of tolerance, which may easily cause chipping, and there could be bright spots in the semi-finished steel product. If the radial runout is beyond tolerance, it could also lead to the gap between two knives, resulting in large burrs. Additionally, if the blade angle exceeds 90°, burrs will be generated during slitting, and even flanging could occur. 

Trying best to avoid problems like this, our processing service center would regularly maintain machines and make sure production is under control and save customers time and trouble. 

Speaking of slitting, the packaging/ weight of each coil/ total length each roll/ Inner and outer diameters of each roll could be customized due to requirements.
